Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA), particularly Department of Agricultural Economics and Policies (DAEP), and Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) have long and close relationships in education, training and research. Most of the lecturers of DAEP have graduated from AIT. DAEP and AIT have successfully held several study tours for people who work in the public sector, private sector and NGOs from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Lao PDR. The topics focused on agricultural cooperative development, poverty reduction program, public administrative procedure reform, management and implementation of agricultural and rural development projects, and so on.
From 24 to 28 Feb 2023, DAEP’s staff organized an Exchange Visit on "Management & Implementation of Agricultural and Rural Development Projects" for officials from Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF), Government of Bangladesh in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City (HMC). On behalf of the Department, Prof. Dr. Do Kim Chung gave an overview of project management, implementation, monitoring and evaluation in the field of agriculture and rural development in Vietnam. The training course was organized by FFS approach. Thus, most of the time was spent on field trips in Dong Anh and Chuong My districts (Hanoi) and Can Gio and Cu Chi districts (HCMC). During the field trips, Bangladeshi officials discussed and shared experiences in the management and implementation of agricultural and rural development projects with not only Vietnamese government staff, but also with project managers. All Bangladeshi trainees felt happy and satisfied with the knowledge and experiences that were learnt from Vietnam. Additionally, the trainees appreciated the professional skills of DAEP staff in conducting the whole training course. They also hope that DAEP, AIT and PKSF will have further collaborations in the future.
